History & Tradition

The University of New York in Prague (UNYP) was founded in April 1998 in partnership with the State University of New York (SUNY) at New Paltz and SUNY Empire State College.

This collaboration allows students to earn an American bachelor’s degree from SUNY.

UNYP also partners with its European sister institution, New York College in Athens, Greece. NYC has over 20 years of experience offering international bachelor’s and master’s programs with accredited American and European universities.

Our Mission

UNYP’s undergraduate programs follow American teaching methods.

They expose students to different academic fields, helping them develop skills in critical thinking, effective communication, analysis, and research.

All classes are conducted in English.

Who We Are

Today, UNYP is the largest English-language higher education institution in the Czech Republic.

Over 1,000 students from more than 80 countries create a vibrant educational community.

The faculty comprises 130 instructors from over 30 countries, most being native English speakers.

UNYP blends the Czech Republic’s rich academic history with American and European educational traditions.

Our Partners

UNYP maintains close relationships with public universities in Prague, including Charles University, the University of Economics, and the Czech Technical University.

Many UNYP instructors also teach at these institutions.

Additionally, UNYP collaborates with multinational companies in Prague to provide internships, enabling students to apply their skills in real-world business settings.
