Are you a “full-time” student who is trying to balance study, work, and personal life? There is no secret how hard it can be for students to combine study with a number of other commitments. We are all striking the perfect balance which can be quite challenging and even stressful. Lots of students just find themselves unable to deal with the workload.
If you are struggling with finding the healthy balance, we complied some tips how to stay effective and mentally healthy throughout university.
1. Schedule wisely
The best thing you can start with is to sit down and plan out your semester ahead prioritizing all important deadlines, tasks and other commitments you can have during next weeks. Consider how much time approximately you will need to have tasks ready. If you have a part-time job, try to take a chance on choosing your work hours. That will give you the opportunity to set aside enough time for both studying and personal life.
2. Set realistic goals
Setting realistic goals will help your productivity and your wellbeing massively. It is also a great way either to motivate yourself for future achievements or to keep yourself on track. Break one goal into small ones so it would be more realistic for you to make it happen. If you need some help setting goals or how you could improve it, you can talk to an academic adviser on campus.
3. Have a healthy social life
Connecting with other people is as important as spending time studying. The University of New York in Prague gives you an opportunity to meet different people from all over the world. You can find very enjoyable going to classes if you know there are some familiar faces you have might see before.
4. Find a Time Management Style
Another problem is that students sometimes are getting involved in too many activities so that’s why time management is extremely important to find the right balance. Some students start feeling pressure because of different activities they should have time to do. The key is to find the type of ventures that can make you feeling better, help to recharge so you have energy to face all your commitments. There are many management techniques which will help you during your daily studying routine. Find the right one so you feel you have more control over the day: Time blocking, Pomodoro, Eisenhower matrix and many others.
5. Look after yourself
It’s important to stay in good physical and mental health! Ensure you are getting enough sleep, eating nutritious food, doing some physical exercises during the week, taking care of your mental health. You cannot study effectively without being healthy and happy. Acknowledge your feelings and ask for a help if you need it.
Student life sometimes can be overwhelming and challenging but hopefully these tips will help you to become a more organized and a happier person throughout the university journey.
