It is with profound sadness and a deep sense of loss that the University of New York in Prague (UNYP) announces the passing of Professor Radek Ptáček, a cherished member of our academic community. Professor Ptáček leaves behind a legacy of excellence in education, research, and mentorship that has touched the lives of countless students and colleagues.
Professor Ptáček was a distinguished scholar in the field of psychology, joining UNYP in 2011 and serving the university with unwavering dedication until this year. During this time, he became the cornerstone of psychology at UNYP, known for his outstanding research, inspiring teaching methods, and compassionate approach to students.
“Professor Ptáček was more than just a colleague; he was a guiding light for many within our university,” said Andreas Antonopoulos, Rector of UNYP. “His passion for psychology and commitment to his field were unparalleled. We will miss his wisdom and the indelible mark he left on our community.”
In addition to his academic contributions, Professor Ptáček was known for his active involvement in the popularization of psychological issues and for bringing discussions of difficult topics to the public domain. His dedication to making society a kinder, gentler place for all will be remembered and honored for years to come.
Our thoughts and deepest sympathies go out to Professor Ptáček’s family, friends, colleagues, and students during this difficult time. We mourn his loss and celebrate the profound impact he had on the psychological community at UNYP, Charles University, and Czech society.
