The University of New York in Prague (UNYP) has long embraced a tradition of community support, particularly during the festive season. This year, UNYP continued its tradition by making a donation to Dětský domov Dolní Počernice, a children’s home, as part of its Christmas initiative. The collection drive, held in the university library, saw enthusiastic participation from the entire UNYP community, including staff and students alike.
The donations were personally delivered by a delegation comprising two representative students, General Manager Sotiris Foutsis, and Student Life Officer Jana Kubíková.
Beyond this, UNYP has been active in various other initiatives throughout the year. These include donations to international and local organizations such as UNICEF and the U24 fundraising platform, as well as providing crucial resources like computers to organizations such as Člověk v tísni and AMITI. Furthermore, in a significant commitment to education and support for those affected by the Ukrainian crisis, UNYP provided full scholarships covering the entire tuition for three exceptional Ukrainian students, along with additional financial aid and scholarships to other promising students who have shown academic excellence.
The university’s efforts reflect a deep understanding of the importance of giving back to the community. With more initiatives on the horizon, UNYP continues to inspire and lead by example, demonstrating that helping and contributing to the community is not just a seasonal act but a continuous commitment. As the year closes, the university community remains dedicated to spreading kindness and support, embodying the true spirit of the holiday season.
