Last week, the University of New York in Prague (UNYP) partnered with the Czech Olympic Team to host a seminar on the psychology of high performance under pressure.
The event brought together athletes, coaches, students, and mental performance experts to explore how psychological resilience can be developed and applied in high-stakes environments. We were especially pleased to have Kateřina Neumannová on campus for the seminar, as well as two of our student-athletes, Jakub Hroneš and Filip Sakala.
Together, UNYP professor Adam Šíma, a psychologist and mental coach, delivered practical strategies for sustaining focus and mental balance in competitive environments. Complementing his perspective, UNYP professor Iva Linda Maruščáková offered academic insights into sports psychology, highlighting the critical role of mental preparedness alongside physical training.
This initiative is part of the broader collaboration between UNYP and the Czech Olympic Committee, designed to support athletes in their sporting and academic pursuits. The seminar reinforced that a holistic approach, where mental health and psychological tools play a central role, is essential to long-term athletic success.
