Graduation Letter from the President of UNYP

Every beginning has an end. Or does it? Although you began your studies some years ago, today is not the end of your education, and certainly not the end of your relationship with UNYP.

Today is the first day of your future, and the beginning of the education that you will receive from every day of living your life. As you move from career to career and experience to experience you will realize that learning never stops… you will learn job skills, you will learn people skills, you will learn how to be a husband, a wife, a father, a mother, you will learn new technologies that will enter and leave your life, and more than anything you will learn to overcome the obstacles and challenges that life brings your way. These moments will make you stronger, more resilient and more human. We at UNYP have helped you develop the leader and learner within you, we have worked together throughout your studies to leave you with the skills and tools you will need to cope, to hope and to learn how to overcome the next generation of global challenges.

We have given you the opportunity to build a network of friends and colleagues from all across the planet. Remember, as you travel back to your home countries or to a new and exciting destination for your new job, that you have this UNYP network of people who will always be excited to reconnect with you.

As I said before, this is also not the end of your relationship with UNYP but the beginning of a new relationship as our alumni, our ambassadors. We want you to know that we are here for you, we support you in all of your dreams and ambitions, and we want you to keep us informed of your success and your achievements. Each year we work to strengthen our alumni activities and outreach programs, to keep in touch and to support each and every one of you when you need us.

Over the last two years of pandemic and now war, we have learned together that people need other people. Human beings are social creatures and we are a strong UNYP community, we are a global UNYP community, and we have learned how to support each other and take care of each other like never before.

So, remember that today is not the end of something, but the start of so many new learning experiences to come. And also remember that there is never an end to learning; graduation is life’s mile-marker for the day when you accept the responsibility to start learning on your own, confident in the knowledge that you have the support of your new, global UNYP network.
