Is the ultimate purpose of the business to maximize profits for its shareholders or to create and share values with its stakeholders? Well, the EU law and policies followed the drive of the UN with SDGs and, under the auspices of the modern concept of sustainability, expects businesses to engage with CSR and even move to CSV. Hence, Czech large businesses selected as the sustainabiltiy leaders should be the models for value creation, argue Radka MacGregor Pelikánová and Veronika Zavřelová in one of their latest research papers. A fresh case study reveals that indeed they are pro-sustainability and proclaim their creation of values, but it seems that these endeavors do not exhibit consistency. This undermines both the effectiveness and efficiency of the entire sustainability system.
