Governance

Regulations & Compliance

The activities of UNYP are subject to legislative acts of the Czech government, most importantly the Higher Education Act (Act No. 111/1998 Coll., on higher education institutions and amendments to other acts).

On top of these, UNYP has a system of internal by-laws stipulating institutional governance and defining the procedures, powers, rights, and obligations in all areas of UNYP’s activity. This system consists of:

a) UNYP Statute and Internal regulations, registered by the Czech Ministry of Education

b) Other rules and measures

c) Required information about programs

d) Publicly accessible Thesis Repository

The UNYP Credit System

UNYP uses the ECTS and American semester credit systems, with one-semester credit equaling two ECTS. This dual system reflects UNYP’s partnership with the State University of New York, and Empire State University, and its history of offering multiple-degree programs.

  • Workload: One-semester credit (2 ECTS) equates to 50–60 work hours, though actual effort varies per student.
  • ECTS Allocation: Standard allocation is 60 ECTS per semester.

Course syllabi detail learning outcomes and workload estimates, which are evaluated annually through Student Evaluations of Instruction. UNYP reviews and adjusts credit allocations and workload estimates to ensure accuracy.
