Professor Nesbit is a distinguished academic with over two decades of experience in higher education management, development, and teaching at international levels.
He earned his bachelor's degree in Communication Studies and a letter of equivalency in English from the University of Windsor, Canada. He continued his studies at the Institute of Communication Studies and Journalism at the Faculty of Social Sciences of Charles University in Prague, earning a Master’s Degree in Mass Communication, followed by a Ph.D. in Media Studies.
Throughout his tenure at Charles University, Professor Nesbit taught courses across the Faculties of Law, Humanities, and Social Sciences.
Until the end of 2024, he served as Dean of the School of Communication and Media, overseeing the Digital Media Arts and English Language and Literature degree programs.
While Dean at UNYP, he was awarded with the Outstanding Faculty Award for Excellence in Teaching at the University of New York in Prague (UNYP). As Chair he led the Communication and Media Department at UNYP until 2018, accreditation and development initiatives. In 2022, he served in the role of Dean of Research and Development at UNYP, directing strategic initiatives in institutional research.
More recently, Professor Nesbitt was appointed Director of European Programs, Center for International Education, Empire State University Professor Nesbitt’s research interests include media ownership, media systems, and the impact of digital technologies on communication practices. His extensive experience spans both North American and European educational systems, making him adept at engaging with culturally, demographically, and geographically diverse student bodies, faculty, and associates.
In addition to his academic roles, Professor Nesbit has contributed to various international conferences and has been involved in numerous research projects focusing on media policy and communication strategies. His publications have appeared in journals, reflecting his commitment to advancing knowledge in his field.
Beyond his professional endeavors, he is known for his dedication to mentoring students and fostering an inclusive learning environment.
