Dr. Johnson joined UNYP in 2013, teaching courses in economics, finance, and mathematics,. His teaching experience includes universities in the U.S., Czechia, Romania, and Albania. He has served as UNYP's MBA director, and now works as an instructor for UNYP's courses and partner programs.
His research interests are focused in development economics, specifically microlending and poverty alleviation efforts, with working papers also in ODA and family economics. In the classroom, Dr. Johnson enjoys using a variety of technologies, and is interested in various teaching strategies and alternative education initiatives. Future research plans include field experiments in direct development efforts in Bangladesh and elsewhere.
Dr. Johnson earned a Ph.D. and M.A. in economics at the University of Arkansas, and a B.S. in Finance at the University of Nebraska. He also is a CFA charter holder, and served for five years as a non-profit finance director before returning to academia. Beyond his teaching roles, he is also the academic director of Bloomberg's CFA training program.
